The weather man called for 80% chance of rain today. We had the rain coats on 3 or 4 times during the day, but never really got hit by much of a storm. The fishing was fantastic all day. Gary and Mike never went more than 15 or 20 minutes without a bite.

Gary and Mike are Missouri experts. We fished from the Dam to Craig today and found good action in the morning with a slow down mid day and then good afternoon fishing. Again we had some thunder storm issues and periods of wind which stirred up a bunch of floating grass to keep things interesting.

We floated the Yellowstone today and had good fishing in the morning and then spent a good portion of the afternoon trying to out run a thunder storm. It caught us at the ramp.

Gary Hancock and Mike Barbur are back for their 14th year with Renegade Outfitters. They’ve seen the good and the bad and everything in between. Today, it was good. Nice weather, good scenery and lots of fish. A bull elk even crossed the river in front of us…perfect

Yellowstone superguide Robert Stewart joined the group today. Ross and Luna rode in my boat with Lee and Bill entertaining Robert. The fishing was outstanding. Ross picked off a bunch of nice fish within inches of the bank. Great day

Bill, Lee, Ross and I hit MZ Ranch today. We found good rising on Benhart creek with a mix of tricos, calibaetis, and pseudos. In the afternoon we hit the East Gallatin and were treated to seeing a herd of elk down on the river. The day was hot, and the hopper dropper action was short lived, but effective for a while. More rain today, our plan was to float the Yellowstone, but the warming huts at Depuy’s spring creek were more inviting, as was the fantastic baetis hatch in the afternoon. Kojima and crew had a blast fishing the lower creek surrounded by rising fish from 1-4pm.
