Our Waters

Montana offers anglers a wide variety of water. The Madison, Gallatin, Missouri, and Yellowstone Rivers are all nearby Bozeman. In addition to these large rivers, there are countless small streams, spring creeks, tail water fisheries, alpine lakes, and private waters in the area. With so many options, Renegade Outfitters can customize your trip to meet the needs of any angler. Whether it's your first time fly-fishing or you're an expert looking for large rising trout, we have the water for you.

YELLOWSTONE RIVER

The longest free flowing river in the lower 48 states, with well over a hundred of those containing prime trout habitat. This is a must fish for anglers planning a trip to the west. Consistent hatches of caddis, mayflies and stoneflies make for some great fishing for native cutthroat, rainbows and brown trout.

THE MADISON RIVER

This is one of the areas most productive rivers. Salmon fly action can be something to see in late June and early July.

MISSOURI RIVER

This has to be one of the finest tail waters in the west. Large rainbows and browns can be tempted by small dry flies or nymphs. 'Pods' of fish can often be seen sipping in the back eddies and foam holes.

THE SPRING CREEKS

Home to DePuy, Nelson, and Armstrong creeks. These are the ultimate test to your angling ability. Crystal clear waters with consistent hatches will test your fly selection, water reading ability and finesse with fine tippets.
